Dr. Jerry Putman joins Tyler Obstetrics & Gynecology
Dr. Jerry Putman has rejoined Tyler Obstetrics and Gynecology, LLP to practice office gynecology, gynecologic surgery, and ultrasound. After serving three years in Africa with Mercy Ships, he is now accepting patients at the location in Olympic Plaza.
Dr. Putman received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1975 from West Texas State University. He attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1979. After an internship and residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Ft. Worth, Dr. Putman became board certified in family practice. He worked in private practice as a family practitioner for three years before returning for a second residency in obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Putman completed his training in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 1988, after which he started a private practice in Tyler. He has been associated with Tyler Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1996, except the three years he served in Sierra Leone, Africa.
Dr. Putman is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and passed recertification in August of 2000. He is also certified by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. He holds memberships in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Smith County Medical Society, and the Christian Medical and Dental Society.
During the three years he was in Africa, Dr. Putman offered his surgical skills in repairing vesico-vaginal fistulas and recto-vaginal fistulas in women who had severe incontinence due to neglected labor and delivery. He continues to be interested in pelvic reconstruction surgery as well as obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound.
He is on the attending staff of both Trinity Mother Frances Hospital and East Texas Medical Center.
